AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER TO ESTABLISH A PROCE ,
FOR STREET NAME CHANGES TO CONFORM WITH THE CITY'S STRE
NAMING POLICY AND CITYWIDE NAMING POLICY AND RESCIND RESOLUTI•
NO. 92-108
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park adopted a Citywide Naming Policy to
establish uniform procedures for the naming and renaming of City Facilities and Streets on July 21,
2021.
WHEREAS, the City Council previously approved Resolution No. 79-37 adopting a "Street
Naming Policy" on April 4, 1979 establishing procedures for naming of City streets.
WHEREAS, on September 18, 2024, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2024-043 to
update the Street Naming Policy and rescinded Resolution No. 79-37, The updated Street Naming
Policy authorizes the CEO's office and the Department of Public Works to develop additional
procedures to aid in the implementation of the Street Naming Policy and process requests for naming
and renaming streets.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 92-108, as adopted by the City on November 4, 1992, establishing
a process for street name changes.
WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to authorize the Chief Executive Officer or designee
to establish an updated process for street name changes to conform with the City's updated Street
Naming Policy and the Citywide Naming Policy and to rescind, replace and supersede Resolution No.
92-108.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by this
reference.
SECTION 2. Resolution No. 92-108 adopted November 4, 1992 and all other Resolutions
inconsistent herewith are hereby rescinded and repealed and shall be of no further force or effect.
SECTION 3. By this Resolution, the City Council hereby authorizes the Chief Executive Officer
or designee to establish requirements to process name changes for City streets in accordance with the
City's Street Naming Policy and Citywide Naming Policy.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
