A RESOLUTION OP THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OP
BALDWIN PARK PROTESTING THE ADOPTION OF ANY
ENABLING LEGISLATION WHICH WOULD PERMIT THE
METROPOLITAN TRANSIT AUTHORITY TO IMPOSE ADDI-
TIONAL TAXES ON REAL PROPERTY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park
has been advised that the Metropolitan Transit Authority is
requesting certain enabling legislation to permit the Authority
to levy taxes upon real.property located In the County of Los
Angeles for the purpose of financing a rapid transit system;
and
WHEREAS, the owners of real property within the County
of Los Angeles are already overburdened in terms of taxes
assessed upon such property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of
Baldwin Park does hereby go on record opposing any enabling
legislation permitting the levying of property taxes by the
Metropolitan Transit Authority for the purpose of financing
certain projects of said Authority.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution, and forward certified copies
hereof, to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the
Honorable Ronald Cameron, Assemblyman from the Qth Assembly
District, the Honorable Thomas M. Rees, State Senator, and
Richard Carpenter, Executive Director of the League of
California Cities.
