A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK URGING THE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF
LOS ANGELES TO CONVEY CERTAIN EXCESS
LAND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SHOPPING
CENTER IN SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park has on
many occasions expressed its interest in encouraging and supporting the
economic development of said city, and
WHEREAS, an increase in commercial activity will result in
benefits which will accrue to the City of Baldwin Park and to its citizens,
and
WHEREAS, plans are nearing completion for the development of a
shopping center in the City of Baldwin Park to be known as Shop In Town,
Incorporated, and
WHEREAS, completion of plans for said shopping center is con-
tingent upon the acquisition of a certain parcel of land presently occupied
by Fire Station No. 29 operated by the County of Los Angeles, and
WHEREAS, said parcel of land will be vacated when the County
of Los Angeles constructs and occupies its new facility in approximately
six months,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Baldwin Park respectfully urges the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Los Angeles, through its appropriate agency, to effect the
conveyance of the land now occupied by County Fire Station No. 29 to the
developers of Shop In Town, Incorporated in the legal and proper manner
when said land shall become available, thereby fulfilling, in part, the
objectives of the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and forward copies thereof to the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 24 day of June, 1963.
