A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, PETITIONING THE
METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY
TO INVITE PROPOSALS FOR PRIVATE FINANCING
AND CONSTRUCTION OF A MASS TRANSPORTATION
SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has
received proposals from orivate companies to finance and construct
a rapid transit system; and
WHEREAS, orivate financing will relieve the burden of
increased taxes to our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the cost of rapid transit should be borne by
those directly benefiting from its use;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Counci!
of the City of Baldwin Park, California, as follows:
1. That the Metropolitan Transportation Authority be
requested to invite proposals for private financing for a mass
transportation system; and
2. That the City C'erk shall send copies of this resolu
tlon to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Los Angeles
County Board of Supervisors and all incorporated cities in Los
Angeles County.
