rJESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK RECOMMENDING AMENDMENTS
TO THE LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION LAW
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DOES
PJ3SOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS fche 1963 Legislature adopted Section 54750,
et seq. of the Government Code of the State of California,
establishing the LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION; and
WHEREAS said legislation, as enacted, is in need of
clarification in terms of the language used therein, and in
terms of the powers granted to said Commission;
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of
Baldwin Park does hereby respectfully recommend and urge the
members of the California State Legislature that the State
Legislature review the provisions of the enabling legislation
establishing said Commission, to consider:
1) granting to said Commission the power to create
and approve, with the consent of the annexing City» both
inhabited and uninhabited annexation proceedings; and
2) deletion of the unnecessary, and cumbersone,
provisions of the present annexation laws.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and forward copies hereof to the
Honorable Thomas Rees, Senator from the 38th Senatorial District
Honorable Harvey M. Johnson, Assemblyman, 58th Assembly District
and the Honorable Philip Soto, Assemblyman, 50th Assembly
District, and to the Mayors of all cities.in the greater Los
Angeles area and to the League of California Cities
1963.
