A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK ENDORSING THE
$850,000,000 WATER BOND PROPOSAL TO BE
SUBMITTED TO VOTERS BY THE METROPOLITAN
WATER DISTRICT OP SOOTHERN CALIFORNIA AT
THE JUNE 7.1966. DIRECT PRIMARY ELECTION
AND URGING APPROVAL THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water District of
Southern California will submit a proposal for an
$850,000,000 water bond issue to be voted upon at the
June 7, 1966, direct primary election, and,
WHEREAS, voter approval of the water bond
proposal is necessary to finance construction of more
than 300 miles of tunnels and pipelines, new treatment
plants, and related facilities, for delivery of Northern
California water from the State Water Project to more
than 100 cities in the six Southern counties served by
The Metropolitan Water District, comprising more than
half the population of the State of California, and
WHEREAS, one of the major facilities to be so
financed and constructed is the Foothill Feeder pipe-
line, needed for replenishment of the depleted under-
ground water basin relied upon as the source of supply
serving the cities, communities, and industries in the
Upper San Gabriel Valley,
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK that the $850,000,000
water bond proposal to be submitted to voters by the
Metropolitan Water District of Southern California at
the June 7, 1966, direct primary election be, and is
hereby endorsed, and that all member cities and agencies
of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Water Association, be,
and they are hereby urged to approve and support the
said water bond proposal.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of
this Resolution be furnished to the Citizens' Water Bond
Connnittee, to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern
California and to all member cities and agencies of the
Upper San Gabriel Valley Water Association.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 20th day of
April, 1966.
