RESOLUTION NO. 66-229
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF. THE CITY OF
BALDWIN PARK ENCOURAGING THE CITIZENS OF BALDWIN
PARK TO ASSIST CERTAIN TURKISH COMMUNITIES BY
THEIR PERSONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE TURKISH
EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS RELIEF FUND THROUGH THE
AMERICAN RED CROSS.
WHEREAS, the recent earthquake which occurred in Turkey did
extensive damage with tragic results to many Turkish communities; and
WHEREAS, many earthquake victims are in desperate circum-
stances; and
WHEREAS, economic assistance, clothing and canned goods
are urgen t 0 y needed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Baldwin Park urges the citizens of Baldwin Park to express their~com-
passion for the citizens of Turkey by making personal financial contributions
to the Turkish Earthquake Victims Relief Fund through the American Red Cross
and by gifts of clothing and canned goods to the collection centers at County
Fire Stations to help in this time of urgent need.
ADOPTED and PASSED this 7th day of September, 1966.
