A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK
IN RECOGNITION OF BRAVERY IN THE LINE OF DUTY BY
BALDWIN PARK POLICE OFFICER
DAVID R. GUNDERSEN
OCTOBER 19, 1983
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK AS
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Detective David R. Gundersen, a member of Baldwin Park
Police Department, Narcotic and Burglary Suppression Team, was regularly
assigned in this capacity on the evening of October 3, 1983, at 4834 N.
Maine Avenue in the City of Baldwin Park; and
WHEREAS, in the course of assisting fellow officers in the service
of an arrest warrant at said premises, hostile gunfire was received
from this location striking one of his fellow officers; and
WHEREAS, in the course of assisting his wounded fellow officer,
Detective David R. Gundersen, without regard for his own safety, and in
the face of extreme danger, entered into the line of fire to assist his
wounded fellow officer to a position of safety; and
WHEREAS, Detective David R. Gundersen has distinquished himself as
a respected law enforcement officer whose courage and bravery are in
keeping with the highest standards of law enforcement; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BALDWIN PARK, in recognition of his courage and bravery, in the line
of duty does hereby commend the actions of Detective David R. Gundersen,
proclaimed this day October 19, 1983.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage~)and adoption of this
Resolution. /
