A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BALDWIN PARK SUPPORTING THE CALIFORNIA
PARK AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES ACT OF 1984,
PROPOSITION 18, WHICH PLACES BEFORE THE VOTERS
OF CALIFORNIA JUNE 5, 1984, A BOND MEASURE TO
PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PARKS AND RECREATIONAL
LAND ACQUISITION, DEVELOPMENT AND OTHER
RELATED PURPOSES
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation programs vastly enhance
our environment and our lives; and
WHEREAS, leisure facilities and open spaces in both urban
and rural areas are a necessity to life, since they have a substantial
effect on mental and physical health, economic productivity and social
problems; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 18 will place before the voters of
California the California Park and Recreational Facilities Act of 1984,
a measure to provide financing of a program of acquiring, developing,
or restoring real property for State and local park, beach, recreational
or historical resources preservation purposes; and
WHEREAS, the proposed program will make available additional,
or augment existing, recreation areas and add or improve facilities in
and near population centers; and
WHEREAS, enhancement of parks, conservation of natural
resources and historic preservation projects have a direct economic
benefit to our community and the State as a whole; and moreover, will
benefit the health and well-being of Catiform'ans,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK hereby:
SECTION 1. Goes on record in support of Proposition 18; and
SECTION 2. Recommends that the voters of California,
particularly those in the City of Baldwin Park, go to the polls on
June 5, 1984, and support Proposition 18.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of
this Resolution.
