HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985 063 CC RESO1985 063 CC RESO(ÌìèzRESOLUTION NO. 85-63 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK SUPPORTING THE PASSAGE OF ASSEMBLY BILL 1868 AIR RESOURCES BOARD MEMBERSHIP) WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park is located in the South Coast Air Quality Management District SCAQ^D) and concerned about the quality of our air; and WHEREAS, the SCWSD is charged with the responsibility for solving what is generally acknowledged to be a very severe air pollution problem that will require a great effort before all ambient air quality standards are attained throughout the regions of the District; and WHEREAS, THE SCR-32 Montoya) study report in 1980 recommended that the SCAO^D and Bay Area Air Quality Maintenance District each be given permanent seats on the Air Resources Board ARB); and WHEREAS, the SCAC^O under current law has to share an ARB seat on a rotating basis; and WHEREAS/ the Air Resources Board has stated that since the SCZ^ID is the largest, most complex, multi-county district in the State with a correspondingly larger air pollution problem than any other district in California, it is appropriate that the SCAQMD have a permanent ARB seat; and WHEREAS, to provide for a permanent seat on the ARB, the SCAQMD requested Assembly Member Charles M. Calderon to introduce Assembly Bill 1868. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park does hereby support and urge the passage of AB 1868 as a step to strengthen the air quality management program for the citizens of this area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. APPROVED and ADOPTED this 17th day of ATTEST: STATE OF CALIFORNIA COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES) ss.
