A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK RATIFYING THE
APPOINTMENT TO THE OFFICES OF THIS CITY,
AND CANCELLING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION ON TUESDAY/ APRIL 8, 1986.
WHEREAS, pursuant to applicable provisions of the Elections
Code of the State of California, as of 5 p.m. on January 30, 1986,
only one candidate has been nominated for each office in this city
and that the Elections Code allows one of the following courses of
action by the City Council:
1. Appoint to the office the person who has been
nominated; or
2. Appoint to the office any eligible voter if no
one has been nominated; or
3. Hold the election if either no one or only one
person has been nominated.
WHEREAS, a proper notice was published on February 5, 1986, in
a newspaper of general circulation pursuant to law.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK,
DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That pursuant to the Elections Code of the State
State of California, the following action is being taken:
The following persons are hereby appointed to the offices
which they were nominated:
NAME OFFICE TERM
Jack B. White Mayor Two years
Bobbie W. Izell Councilman Four years
Robert H. McNeill Councilman Four years
Section 2. The election scheduled to be held on Tuesday, April
8, 1986, is hereby cancelled.
Section 3. The persons appointed shall qualify and take
office and serve exactly as if elected at a municipal election for
the office.
Section 4. That this Resolution ratifies and duplicates the
action taken at the adjourned regular meeting of the City Council
on February 17, 1986.
Section 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of
original resolutions.
PASSED AND APPROVED AND ADOPTED ON FEBRUARY 19, 1986.
