A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK ENDORSING
A PROGRAM BY LOS ANGELES COUNTY
DISTRICT ATTORNEY IRA REINER
DIRECTED TOWARDS STREET DRUG DEALERS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin
Park recognizes that dangerous drugs are becoming more
pervasive in our society, and in an attempt to reconfirm its
strong stand in opposition to drug sales; and
WHEREAS, the District Attorney of the County of
Los Angeles has undertaken to make street drug dealers the
major target of a crackdown by pledging to seek the maximum
appropriate state prison or county jail sentences on all
cases of possession for sale or sale of cocaine, heroin, or
PCP; and
WHEREAS, whenever a defendant is on probation for
sale or possession for sale, the District Attorney shall
urge the court to order that the defendant be ineligible for
bail until disposition of the case; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE it resolved that the City
Council of the City of Baldwin Park does hereby endorse the
District Attorney's program aimed at cracking down on street
drug dealers.
That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution,
