HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990 075 CC RESO1990 075 CC RESO(Ìì¾ÊRESO 90-75 SEP 19 1990H 8 RESOLUTION NO. 90-75 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK SUPPORTING THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT IN ITS EFFORTS TO REDUCE CURRENT TRAFFIC CONGESTION AND ITS INHERENT PROBLEMS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park recognizes the domestic problems associated with dependency on foreign oil, and WHEREAS, the crisis in the mideast has again focused our attention on this dependency, and WHEREAS, traffic congestion in Southern California is causing concern to the citizens of this City and the County due to the delays in travel time, productivity in the workplace and increased air pollution, and WHEREAS, the Southern California Rapid Transit District proposes a very viable and reasonable solution to decrease traffic congestion and pollution through the use of carpools, vanpools, train, bus, and thereby increasing the number of commuters per vehicle to one and one-quarter riders per car effectively reducing the number of cars on the freeway by as much as 20 percent. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK does hereby urge City employees and citizens to ride the bus, train, use carpools, vanpools, in a concerted effort to reduce traffic congestion and pollution and curb our dependency on foreign oil.
