A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE
TROOPS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN THE
PERSIAN GULF WAR
WHEREAS, the United States of America by direction of the
President of the United States, approved by the United Nations of
the World, and the Congress of the United States has engaged the
American Military to free the Nation of Kuwait from the invasion and
tyranny imposed by Saddam Hussein, dictator of Iraq, and the
military forces of Iraq; and
WHEREAS, the peace and freedom of all countries of the
Middle East is threatened by Iraq's action; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the United States
and the Nations of the World now and forever to demonstrate the
reaction of freedom loving peoples and Nations to act of tyranny and
violence such as those committed by Iraq; and
WHEREAS, while recognizing the role of dissent in a
democracy, it is important for the majority of people individually
and through their elected representatives, to set forth their
position in support of our Nation; and
WHEREAS, every level of government as a representative of
the public is effected by and is vitally concerned with the well-
being of our Nation, its mission, and goals with regard to the
Persian Gulf War.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK,
PARK, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Baldwin Park commends and supports
the men and women of the armed forces of the United States,
acknowledging and expressing our deep appreciation for their
dedication, courage, prowess and sacrifice in support of our Nation
and the peace and freedom of the World.
SECTION 2. The City extends it commendation and support
to the allies and all people aligned for a common purpose in support
of and in assistance to the men and women of the American Military
in the Persian Gulf War.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution and shall forward a copy to all
interested parties including the League of California Cities, cities
of the San Gabriel Valley, United States House of Representatives,
United States Senators of California, the Governor of California,
and all branches of the armed forces of the United States.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED March 6, 1991.
