A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN
PARK SUPPORTING PRESIDENT
CLINTON'S ECONOMIC STIMULUS
PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park is an
advocate for legislative and regulatory policy which directly impacts
the City of Baldwin Park; and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States has outlined in
his State of the Union address a comprehensive program for economic
recovery and Putting People First"; and
WHEREAS, many of the elements of this Economic Plan would
directly benefit the City of Baldwin Park and the residents and
businesses of the Baldwin Park community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park could significantly
benefit from the elements of the Plan which increase funding for the
Community Development Block Grant and HOME programs, highway and public
transportation projects and summer youth employment; and
WHEREAS, the residents and businesses of Baldwin Park would
further benefit from increased funding of summer youth employment, Head
Start, immunization and AIDS treatment, extended unemployment benefits
and an expansion of the earned income tax credit, all of which are
elements of the President's Economic Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council does hereby endorse and
support the President's Economic Plan due to its many potential benefits
to the City and the community of Baldwin Park.
Section 2. That the Mayor shall be authorized to communicate
the City Council's position to all appropriate individuals and
organizations, including providing such individuals or organizations
with copies of this resolution.
Section 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
