A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK SUPPORTING THE
DECISION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF IRWINDALE TO REJECT PLACING AN
ORDINANCE ON THE BALLOT WHICH WOULD ALLOW
A CARD CLUB WITHIN THE CITY OF IRWINDALE
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park and the City of Irwindale
share a common border; and
WHEREAS, due to this common border, the actions of one City can
greatly impact the residents and businesses within the adjacent City;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park had
previously reviewed the potential to allow a card club within the City
of Baldwin Park and rejected this use as incompatible with the
objectives of the City and of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the city of Baldwin Park has found
the potential negative impacts resulting from a card club outweighed any
benefits to be gained from this use; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Irwindale recently
reviewed whether or not to take the issue of allowing card clubs within
their community to the voters, and rejected card clubs as a desirable
use within their community.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Baldwin Park supports the action by the
City Council of the City of Irwindale to reject card clubs
as an acceptable use within their community.
SECTION 2. That the city of Baldwin Park further opposes any card
club within close proximity to its borders as a use which
is incompatible with the betterment of the Baldwin Park
community and the surrounding region.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and forward a copy hereof to the city of
Irwindale.
