A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BALDWIN PARK AUTHORIZING THE BALDWIN PARK
POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONTINUE PARTICIPATING
IN A MULTI-AGENCY DRUNK DRIVING TASK FORCE.
WHEREAS, the California Highway Patrol, Baldwin Park Office,
has received grant funds for the continuation of a multi-agency
drunk driving task force; and
WHEREAS, the grant includes participation by the police
departments of Azusa, Baldwin Park, Covina, Glendora, Irwindale,
West Covina and the Baldwin Park Office of the California Highway
Patrol; and
WHEREAS, the grant fully funds the participation of Baldwin
Park Police Personnel; and
WHEREAS, the participation of all agencies will enhance
public safety in the East San Gabriel Valley area as demonstrated
by the 58% reduction of injury traffic collisions and by the 777
arrests for drunk driving during the preceding grant period.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Baldwin Park City
Council authorizes the Baldwin Park Police Department to continue
participation in the grant known as VAIDEP Valley Agencies
Intoxicated Driver Enforcement Program), and authorizes the Chief
of Police to sign the participation agreement.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Baldwin Park this 16th day of March, 1994.
