A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BALDWIN PARK CHANGING THE STREET NAME OF A
PORTION OF VIRGINIA STREET TO HAMBURGER LANE
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park has
received a request to change the street name of that portion of
Virginia Street from its termination point at Dalewood Street to a
point located at 1306 North Virginia from Virginia Avenue to
Hamburger Lane; and
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 34901.1 provides that the
legislative body of a city may name any city street or change the
name of any city street; and
WHEREAS, The City by Resolution No. 94-20 has established a
process for street name changes; and
WHEREAS, on March 2, 1994, the City Council adopted Resolution
No. 94-20, a Resolution of Intention regarding the subject street
name change, setting a public hearing at the City Council meeting
of April 6, 1994; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has reviewed the request, the staff
report, and all public testimony with regard to the street name
change, and is now prepared to determine whether to finalize the
Resolution of Intention or to abandon these proceedings; and
WHEREAS, The City of Baldwin Park was the birthplace of the
fast food family restaurant known as In-N-Out Burger; and
WHEREAS, the In-N-Out Burger has become a tradition and a
unique part of the Southern California lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, The city of Baldwin Park wishes to honor the company
which makes its home in the City; and
WHEREAS, In-N-Out Burger still maintains its offices on a
portion of Virginia Avenue; and
WHEREAS, The City Council finds that the granting of this
request will be for the public benefit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park
approves the request and hereby changes the street name of that
portion of Virginia Avenue from its termination point at Dalewood
Street eastward to a point located at 1306 Virginia Avenue, at
which point the street turns north, from its present name, Virginia
Avenue, to its new name, Hamburger Lane.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a
certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Los Angeles..
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Baldwin Park on the 6th_day of April, 1994.
