A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BALDWIN PARK IN SUPPORT OF THE CONSENSUS
APPROACH TO GROUNDWATER CLEANUP"
WHEREAS, The San Gabriel Groundwater Basin has been declared a superfund
site due to groundwater contamination; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park is concerned with
achieving effective groundwater cleanup of the Basin as a local water source; and
WHEREAS, the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority WQA") has proposed
a Consensus Approach" solution to the Baldwin Park Operable Unit; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes the Consensus Approach will be effective to
achieve a groundwater cleanup solution, avoid costly litigation and protect the local
economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park does hereby
resolve to support and approve the WQA Consensus Approach to groundwater cleanup
and encourages the USEPA, all potentially responsible parties, and all San Gabriel Valley
water institutions to endorse the Consensus Approach for implementation with respect to
the Baldwin Park Operable Unit.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of June, 1994.
