A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK OPPOSING THE APPROVAL
OF A MEASURE ALLOWING CARD CLUBS IN
THE CITY OF IRWINDALE
WHEREAS, the voters of the City of Irwindale will consider a measure to allow
card clubs in the City of Irwindale at the November 8,1994, Statewide General Election;
and
WHEREAS, allowing card clubs in the City of Irwindale would have obvious
significant adverse environmental and social impacts which have not been disclosed or
examined through the preparation of an appropriate environmental impact report; and
WHEREAS, such significant adverse environmental and social impacts will occur
not only within the City of Irwindale, but also within surrounding cities, including the City
of Baldwin Park; and
WHEREAS, no environmental review whatsoever has been conducted with regard
to the potential negative impacts resulting from card clubs, which impacts outweigh any
benefits to be gained from allowing card clubs to exist within the City of Irwindale; and
WHEREAS, the approval of this measure will significantly and adversely impact
the residents and the businesses of the City of Baldwin Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Baldwin Park opposes the approval of a measure
allowing card clubs in the City of Irwindale.
SECTION 2. The City of Baldwin Park urges the voters of the City of
Irwindale to reject the ballot measure which will be on the November 8,1994 State-Wide

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution,
forward a copy hereof to the City of Irwindale, and arrange for its appropriate publication.
