Home My WebLink About1996 058 CC RESO1996 058 CC RESO(Ìì²© RESOLUTION 96- 58 A RESOLUTION OF ThE CITY COUNCIL OF ThE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK APPROVING ThE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY REGIONAL PARK AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT URBAN TREE PLANTING COMPETITIVE GRANT PROGRAM FOR A TREE PLANTING PROJECT WHEREAS, the people of the County of Los Angeles on November 3,1992, enacted Los Angeles County Proposition A, Safe Neighborhood Parks, Gang Prevention, Tree Planting, Senior and Youth Recreation, Beaches and Wildlife Protection the Proposition), which, among other uses, provides funds to public agencies and non-It organizations In the County for planting trees In parks, medians, right-of-way, public squares and other public places; and WHEREAS, the Proposition also created the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District the District) to administer said funds; and WHEREAS, the District has set forth the necessary procedures governing applications fur grant funds under the Propositions; and WHEREAS, Section 8.a.3.C of the Proposition has allocated funds for planting trees in parks, medians, rig right-of-way, public squares and other public places; and WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park certifies through this resolution that the application is approved for submission to the District; and WHEREAS, if the City' of Baldwin Park is selected for a grant award, it will be required to enter into a Project Agreement with the District for the performance of the project as described in the application. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK HEREBY: SECTION 1. Approves the filing of an individual application with the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District for funds allocated under Section 8.a.3.C of the Proposition for the Tree Planting Project; and SECTION 2. Certifies that the City of Baldwin Park understands that it will be required to provide additional funding for the Tree Planting Project if the requested grant funds are insufficient to complete said Project; and SECTION 3. Certifies that the City of Baldwin Park understands its obligation to operate and maintain the properties in perpetuity: and SECTION 4. Certifies that the City of Baldwin Park will sign and return, within 30 days, both copies of the project agreement sent by the District for authorizing signature; and SECTION 5. Certifies that the City of Baldwin Park agrees and understands that the District may terminate the project agreement at any point if it determines that the project cannot be performed as described In the application; and SECTION 7. Authorizes the Director of Public Works as agent of the City of Baldwin Park to conduct all negotiations, and to execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to, applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so forth, which may be necessary for the completion of the project as described in the application.
