A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BALDWIN PARK PLEDGING SUPPORT FOR A REWARD
FUND TO BE USED FOR THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF
PERSON OR PERSONS WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH
THE DEATH OF POLICE OFFICERS
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park strongly supports law enforcement and
recognizes that police officers risk their lives everyday to protect their communities; and
WHEREAS, society has a strong desire to bring criminals to swift and sure justice,
especially criminals who assault police officers in the line of duty, and
WHEREAS, witnesses are sometimes reluctant to come forward with information
because of fears of retaliatory consequences: and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that a reward must be of sufficient amount to prompt
the witness to come forward with information to aid the police in their investigation; and
WHEREAS, in order to get a reward to a sufficient size, the City of Baldwin Park
strongly urges other cities in Los Angeles County to join in this effort;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Baldwin
Park authorizes a Reward Fund be set up. The Fund shall consist of $5,000 and other
cities in the Los Angeles County are strongly urged to pass a similar Resolution of at
least equal monetary amount, so that a sufficient sized Reward Fund is pledged at all
times should the need for same arise.
IT IS ALSO AGREED that the funds for such Reward Fund be allocated from the
appropriate City account(s).
