A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK
OPPOSING PROPOSITION 218- RIGHT TO VOTE ON TAXES ACT
WHEREAS, the measure would limit the authority of local governments to impose taxes and
property-related assessments, fees, and charges and require a majority of voters approve increases in general
taxes and two-thirds majority approval for special taxes; and
WHEREAS, the measure would require that assessments, fees and charges must be submitted
to property owners for approval or rejection after notice and public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the measure would limit assessments to the special benefit' conferred: and
WHEREAS, the measure would limit fees and charges to the cost of providing the service and
may not be imposed for general governmental services available to the public; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF ThE CITY OF
BALDWIN PARK AFFIRMS ITS DISAGREEMENT WITH THE RIGHT TO VOTE ON TAXES ACT AND
OPPOSES PROPOSITION 218.
