HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 073 CC RESO2002 073 CC RESO;¢f4 ·RESOLUTION NO. 2002-073 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK URGING THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO SEEK ALTERNATE SOLUTIONS TO THE CLOSURE OF ELEVEN HEALTH CLINICS WHEREAS, At its meeting of June 26, 2002, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a budget which resulted in budget cutbacks in the County health system. Eleven health clinics are slated to be closed at various times within the next several months; and WHEREAS, the eleven clinics to be closed include Azusa, Pico Rivera, Alhambra. Bell Gardens, San Antonio Huntington Park), Norwalk, Florence-Firestone. Imperial Heights, Lawndale, North Hollywood and Tujunga; and WHEREAS, In addition. One-hundred beds will be cut at LAC + USC Medical Center with a 4% cut in the budget. Beds at King-Drew Medical Center will be reduced from 269 to 218 along with a 16% budget cut. Harbor-UCLA Medical Center beds will be reduced from 340 to 318. High end clinical services would no longer be performed at King-Drew and Harbor-UCLA. High Desert Hospital will be closed and converted to an out-patient clinic; and WHEREAS, of the eleven clinics slated for closure, three are located within the San Gabriel Valley and possibly service as clinic facilities to residents of the City of Baldwin Park. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDIWN PARK HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Crty of Baldwin Park urges the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to seek alternate solutions to the closure of the eleven health clinics. Section 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and forward a copy of this resolution to each of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and to the Coalition for Heafthy Communities, 500 S. Virgil Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90020. PASSED. APPROVED and ADOPTED this 7th daycK?»ugust^632.
