RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK CITY
COUNCIL EXPRESSING SUPPORT AND APPROVING
THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR A
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL SR2S) PROGRAM GRANT
FOR FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR 2004/2005.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Section 2333.5 of the Streets and Highways Code calls for
Caltrans, in consultation with the California Highway Patrol CHP), to make grants
available to local governmental agencies under the program based upon the results of
a statewide competition that requires submission of proposals for funding..."; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has been delegated
the responsibility to set up procedures to distribute federal funding apportioned to
California for the Safe Routes to School SR2S) program which came into effect from
the passage and signing of Assembly Bill 1475 AB 1475).
WHEREAS, In 2001, Senate Bill 10 SB 10) was enacted which extended the
program for three additional years; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the California Department of
Transportation requires a resolution from the City Council of the applicant expressing
support for the project with submission of said application to the California Department
of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the applicant, if successful, will enter into a contract with the State
of California Department of Transportation for the project;
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Baldwin Park hereby:
1. Expresses support for the project; and
2. Consents to the project and accepts the work, goods, or services provided through
the project, and
3. Approves the filing of an application to the California Department of Transportation
Safe Routes to School SR2S) program for Federal Fiscal Year 2004/2005.
