A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DECLARING ITS
SUPPORT AND APPROVING THE APPLICATION
FOR THE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE
ASSISTANCE GRANT JAG) PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the U.S Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs will
provide funds to local governments to support activities to prevent and control
crime; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park is allocated funds through the
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program the JAG Program")
as part of the Office of Justice Programs; and
WHEREAS, the procedures established by the JAG Program requires the
City Council to adopt an resolution expressing support for the application after
holding a public hearing for the same; and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a public hearing on this matter on July
5, 2006, to hear all comments from the public and to consider this matter; and
WHEREAS, the City, if successful in its request for the grant, will enter
into a contract with the U.S Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs for
the grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN
PARK DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS;
SECTION 1. That the City Council expresses support for the project.
SECTION 2. That the City Council consents to the project and accepts
the work, goods, or services provided through the project.
SECTION 3. That the City Council Approves the filing of an application for
the JAG Program.
SECTION 4. That the City Council authorizes the Chief of Police, or his
designee, to sign any and all documents necessary for the grant.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
Resolution and shall cause it to be entered into the original book of
Resolutions.
