HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006 053 CC RESO2006 053 CC RESO ×PÄ3˜ö RESOLUTION NO. 2006-053 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA, TO SUPPORT A PASSAGE OF PROPOSITIONS 1A AND 1 B ON THE NOVEMBER 6, 2006 BALLOT WHEREAS, Proposition 1A will close the diversion of transportation funds that has occurred since passage by voters of Proposition 42; and WHEREAS, the Governor and the Legislature have come together with a significant proposed infusion of new state transportation infrastructure investment; and WHEREAS, voter approval of Proposition 1B would provide $19.9725 Billion in transportation funding and programs; and WHEREAS, there is need for more investment in existing successful programs such as street and road maintenance, freeway maintenance, seismic bridge repair, storm damage repair, capital funds for bus and projects; and WHEREAS, there are several new proposed programs in the state transportation infrastructure bond legislation such as high priority corridor improvements, trade infrastructure, port air quality mitigation, security and disaster preparedness; and WHEREAS, Los Angeles County will seek approval for $5.3 Billion of the $19.9725 Billion in transportation bond funds for critically needed transportation projects; and WHEREAS, the transportation infrastructure significantly affects all of our city's residents and is an issue of great importance to the San Gabriel Valley as a region; and WHEREAS, approval of Proposition 1B, the transportation infrastructure bond will have a significant positive impact on congestion relief, air quality improvements, improved mobility, safety, and job creation. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City of Baldwin as follows: SECTION 1. The City of Baldwin supports passage of Propositions 1A and 1B on the November 6, 2006 ballot.
