The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park met in regular session at the above place at 7:30 P.M. Mayor Bloxh.am led the Salute to the Flag. Invocation was riven by Rev. nlyrl Copple, Assembly of God Church, Baldwin Park, Calif. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Cole, Duskin, Littlejohn, Scovotti and Bloxham, City Clerk, City Treasurer and City Attorney. Absent: None With reference to the motion in the minutes of June 4, 1956 in connection with the request for zone variance by Mr. Frank Campuzano, at 3723 N. Baldwin Park. Blvd., Baldwin Park, Councilman Littlejohn made the following amended motion: Moved by Councilman Littlejohn, seconded by Councilman Scov- otti, and unanimously carried, that the zone variance for Frank Campuzano at 3723 N. Baldwin Park Blvd., Baldwin Park, read that Resolution #23 of the Planning Commission of the City of Baldwin Park and the recommendations of the City En- gineer, along with the proviso for curbs and gutters on Merced, be included in this particular motion. Moved by Councilman Littlejohn, seconded by Councilman Scovotti and unanimously carried, that the reading of the balance of the minutes of 6-4-56 be waived, and that they be approved as corrected. Moved by Councilman Scovotti, seconded by Councilman Duskin, and unanimously carried, that the reading of the minutes of April, 17, 1956 be waived and that the same be approved as written. Statement of Municipal Court of Citrus Judicial District re Distribution of Fines and Forfeitures for Baldwin Park for month of May in sum of $929.50. No Action. Letter 6-8-56 from League of California Cities-Bulletin on Special Reports and Surveys in various Manager Cities. No action. Letter 6-8-56 from League of California-re one-day meetings of City Managers. Moved by Councilman Cole, seconded by Councilman Scovotti, and unanimously carried, that City Administrator be permitted to attend the meetings of City Managers at the City's expense. Three letters from citizens of Baldwin Park re half street Stewart Ave.) north of Ramona, and south of Los Angeles St. and speeding that takes place, etc. Moved by Councilman Cole, seconded by Councilman Littlejohn, and unanimously carried, that the matter be referred to the City Engineer for further consideration. A standing vote showed 45 in favor, 110 opposed. In rebuttal: Mr. F. A. Jones again spoke in favor of pin-ball machines. Myers request for Zone change, Case #20 of the Planning Commission. Planning Commission Resolution No. 34 was read re Fred J. Myers request for zone change from A-1 to M-1. Moved by Councilman Duskin, seconded by Mayor B1o ams that the list of names to be notified of the hearing be accepted as sufficient to give reasonable notice of the public hearings required re zoning matters. Moved by Councilman Littlejohn that the matter be returned to the Planning Com- mission for further consideration re variance. This motion was lost for lack of a second. Mr. Walter Schroeters a real estate broker located at 14335 E. Ramona Blvd., Baldwin Park., represented Mr. Myers. He stated that all Mr. Myers wished was to continue his business and that he would be satisfied with a zone variance instead of zone change if it was decided that this was better for the community. Copy of letter from State Dept. of Finance to Darcy A. Skaggs, Supt. of Schools, Baldwin Park, reference Resolution No. 78 of Board of Trustees, accepting lease agreement between Baldwin Park School District and City of Baldwin Park covering Old Central School Building and grounds. No action. Councilman Duskin introduced a letter from American Legion asking permission to sell fireworks tickets-proceeds to be donated to Baldwin Park Boy Scout Troop. Moved by Councilman Coles seconded by Councilman Duskier, and unanimously carried, that permission be granted to sell tickets, with waiver of fee. Councilman Duskin introduced a recomendation from the City Engineer that resolution or ordinance be prepared regarding set backs, curbs and gutters, side-walks and cross-walks in Baldwin Park. Moved by Councilman Duskin, seconded by Councilman Little- john, and unanimously carried that the following resolution be adopted: Section 1. BE IT SO RESOLVED that the specifications in- cluded in the drawings and the written material shown on drawing No. S-100 of the City Engineer of the City of Baldwin Park be adopted as the specifications and standards for the City of Baldwin Park as to curbs, gutters, crosswalks, side- walks, and pavements in the City of Baldwin Park." A matter requested by the Police Department was introduced by the City Attorney. The City Attorney a esented an Ordinance entitled: RAN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK BY AMENDING SECTIONS 3500, 3508, 3509, 3512, 3520.3, 4247, 4247.1, 4247.2, 4247.3, 4249.1, and REPEALING SECTIONS 3501, 3502, 3503, 3504, 3505, 3506, 3507, 3510, 3511, 4200, 4246, 4406, 4502, 4506."
