Council Chambers) Special Meeting The City Council of the CL of a3-Cin Park met in special session at the ab l4 46 at 7:30 PA Councilman Davis led the salute tb thb tlagl Flag salute. Invocation was given by Councilman Davis. Invocation. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Cole, Davis and Mayor pro teen Littlejohn,, City Clerk, City Attorney. Absent: City Treasurer. City Clerk stated that Councilman Davis had submitted. his resignation to be effective upon the commencement of the Canvass of the vote of the May 7, 1957 election, and there- upon Councilman Davis withdrew and relinquished his seat. The Council then proceeded with a count of absentee ballots and canvass of votes cast at Special Election held on May 7, 1957 for the election of two councilman to replace the vacancies created by the recall of Mayor Bloxham and Councilman Timinado Scovotti. At. the completion of the canvass, the City Clerk presented Res. No. 57-38 the following resolution entitled: Canvass of vote for Special A RESOLUTICH OF THE CITY OF BALD(-'IN PARK DECLARING Election. THE RESULTS O THE SPECIAL 1MICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON FLAY 7, 1957•" Adopted. Mayor pro tem Little john moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Cole. It was then passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Cole, Mayor pro tem Littlejohn. NOES: None ABSENT: None The results of the election having been determined, the City Clerk proceeded to administer the Oath of Office to Councilmen Bishop and Stephens, and they assumed their seats on the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park. Councilman Stephens stated that he was sorry Dr. Davis had to leave, as he wanted to make a few remarks regarding Dr. Davis' short term as a councilman in the City of Baldwin Park; that speaking as a private citizen of Baldwin. Park, a taxpayer and a property owner, he wanted to thank Dr. Davis for stepping in and filling the gap that caused our city to continue to function as it did; that speaking as a member of the Planning Commi.sston(and I am sure I speak for all of the members of the Planninf; ommission) that he would like to thank Dr. Davis for stepping in as their work continu- ed uninterrupted all the time, when otherwise their work would have been completely stopped and as his first duty as a Councilman of the City of Baldwin Park. Councilman Stephens mooed, seconded by Councilman Bishop, that the City Clerk and/or our City Administrator, be in- structed to draft a resolution embodying the statements just made and any other pertinent remarks and that this reso- lution be presented to Dr. Davis so that he may have it as a memento of the esteem that his fellow councilmen and feller officials of Baldwin Park hold for him; I further move that the City Clerk, when he has drafted this reso- lution, invite as many of the officials of the City of Baldwin Park, both appointive and elected, to sign.
