Council Chambers) The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park met in regular session at the above place at 7:30 P.M.. Flag salute. Invocation was given by Rev. James Loevy, pastor of the Invocation St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Baldwin Park. City Treasurer Pugh led the salute to the flag. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Bishop, Holmes, Stephens, and Littlejohn; City Attorney, City Treasurer. Absent: Councilman Cole. Moved by Councilman Bishop, seconded by Councilman Minutes of July 1 Stephens, and unanimously carried, that reading of the minutes and July 8,1957 of July 1 and July 8, 1957 be waived and that same be approved Approved, as presented. Statement of Municipal Court Citrus Judicial District re Distribution of Fines and Forfeitures for June, 1957, $6,158.04. Receive and file. Proposed annexations to City of Industry; the Southerly Annexation District No. 26 to City of Azusa; and Southerly Annexation District No. 16 to City of Covina. Receive and file. Mayor Littlejohn presented a copy of Resolutions of the Cities of Heraa Beach and Manhattan Beach pertain- ing to prevention of pollution, contamination and other nuisance conditions in ocean waters and on beaches. Moved by Councilman Holmes, seconded by Councilman Bishop, and unanimously carried that copies of each reso- lution be sent to all councilmen for further study and consideration. Request of C.G. Wallace, 511 E. 6th Street, Los Angeles for business license to collect salvage house to house. Moved by Councilman Holmes that license be denied on grounds that there are sufficient salvage licenses in Baldwin Park. Motion lost for lack of second. NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Cole Councilman Holmes recommended that Ramona Boulevard west from the City limits of West Covina to Maine Ave- nue be posted as to speed limit as several bad accidents have happened near Bogart on Ramona and suggested that speed limit be set at 25 miles per hour from West Covina to Maine Avenue and if possible, posted as to load limit. He further recommended that the south side of Ramona from Bogart to Maine Avenue be posted as to load limit and that the north side of Ramona from Maine Avenue west to Harlan be posted as to load limit. Moved by Councilman Stephens, seconded by Councilman Bishop, and unanimously carried, that the recommendations of Councilman Holmes be referred to the Traffic and Safety Committee for study and recommendations. 1st reading of Ordinance Pertaining to Leaving of property on public sidewalks or public parkways.
