Council Chambers) The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park met in regular session at the above place at 7:30 P.M. Councilman Cole led the salute to the Flag. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Cole, Holmes, Stephens and Littlejohn; City Attorney, City Treasurer and Deputy City Clerk. Mayor Littlejohn stated that he had a letter from the Chief Resignation of Chief of of Police, Helmer Syhre, asking the Council to find a Police Syhre. Moved by Councilman Stephens, seconded by Councilman Cole, and unanimously carried that form submitted by City Attorney be referred to the Police Department. permanent Chief of Police, inasmuch as he had taken the position on a temporary basis. Councilman Cole stated that he and City Administrator Cook had interviewed some 8 applicants and had submitted the name of a man whose reputation and experience seemed to meet the required capabilities of the Chief of Police which Baldwin Park needed. Moved by Councilman Cole, seconded by Councilman Holmes, that the Council accept Chief Syhrets resignation as of midnight, September 3, 1957, and that Mr. Syhre be kept on until the 15th of September as consultant and the last 2 weeks of the month of September be considered his 2 weekst vacation pay. NOES None ABSENT: None Moved by Mayor Littlejohn, seconded by Councilman Holmes, Chief of Police and unanimously carried, that Chief of Police Syhreis badge Syhre to receive his be.presented to him as a memento with inscription showing that badge as memento. he was the first Chief of Police of the City of Baldwin Park, from February 10, 1956 to September 3, 1957. Moved by Mayor Littlejohn, seconded by Councilman Cole, and Vote of confidence to unanimously carried that the City Council of the City of Chief Syhre. Baldwin Park give retiring Chief of Police Syhre a vote of confidence. All members of the Council joined in standing as a vote of confidence to Chief of Police Syhre. Moved by Councilman Stephens, seconded by Councilman Bishop, Resolution in scroll and unanimously carried, that the City Administrator be form to be presented to authorized by this Council to draft a resolution embodying Chief Syhre. the time of Mr. Syhre's service as Chief of Police, and that it be presented him as a scroll from the City of Baldwin Park signed by the Mayor and all elective members of the City and presented to him as a memento.
