BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA Council Chambers) The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park met in special session at the above place at 11:30 A.M. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Bishop, Holmes, Littlejohn, Roll Call Stephens and Cole; Deputy City Clerk as acting City Clerk. Absent: City Attorney; City Treasurer; City Clerk. I The Mayor announced that this meeting had been called for the Letter of special purpose of considering the resignation of the City resignation Attorneys, Ferguson and judge, and other special matters. from Messrs. Ferguson & The Chief Administrative Officer stated that a letter had been judge, City received from Messrs. Ferguson and Judge, Attorneys for the Attorneys for City of Baldwin Park, tendering their resignation as City City of Attorneys for the City, effective July 1, 1958, and stating in said Baldwin Park, letter that they were willing to assist the City in any way if it effective became necessary that we should need them after such date. June 30, 1953. Accepted. It was announced that the items on the agenda to be considered at this Special Meeting was the resignation of Messrs. Ferguson & Judge, City Attorneys for the City of Baldwin Park, the granting of a fireworks permit and the City Council approval of a Quitclaim Deed to Raymond L. Berry and wife. Moved by Councilman Littlejohn, and seconded by Councilman Holmes, that the City Council accept the resignation of the firm of Ferguson & Judge as City Attorneys for the City of Baldwin Park, effective June 30, 1958. This motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Bishop, Holmes, Stephens, Littlejohn and Cole. NOES: None ABSENT: None The Mayor announced that the Chief Administrative Officer would contact Ferguson & Judge, and have the letter from them at the next regular meeting. Councilman Stephens stated that he would like a letter from Messrs. Request for Ferguson & Judge, addressed to the City Council, to the effect that offer of City= they would finish handling the Hopkins-Caillier case, now pending Attorneys in litigation, and also the damage suit for money, the Josenhans case, Ferguson F now pending, and a continuance sought until new City Attorney can judge to finish successfully defend the City in these suits. handling the Quitclaim Deed, City of Baldwin Park, to Raymond L. Berry, and wife. The Chief Administrative Officer stated that this Deed was necessary, inasmuch as the original description of the property on the Deed signed by mr. Berry and his wife was incorrect, and that it was necessary for the City to execute a Quitclaim Deed to Mr. and Mrs. Berry and have a new one signed by them with the correct description of the property. The following resolution was presented relative to the above Quitclaim Deed. two cases now in litigation. C.AO to contact Ferguson & Judge and re- quest a letter to effect that they will finish Hopkins- Caillier case and Josenhans damage suit, now in litiga- tion. CAG to have letter at next regular meeting Reso. No. 58-64 re Quitclaim Deed to Raymond L. Berry and wife, due to in- correct descrip- tion on Dcecl given to City by them. BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA Council Chambers) SPECIAL CALLED MEETING) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DIRECTING THE EXECUTION OF A QUITCLAIM DEED." Moved by Councilman Littlejohn, seconded by Councilman Bishop, and unanimously carried, that the resolution be read by title only. Moved by Councilman Stephens, and deconded by Councilman Holmes, that the resolution be adopted, and the proper City Officials be authorized to sign same. This motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Bishop, Holmes, Littlejohn, Stephens and Cole. NOES: None ABSENT: None The Chief Administrative Officer stated that the matter of granting Request of Lyons Fireworks permits since the last meeting had come up, and that Club for additio an application had been filed by the Lyons Club for a permit at al fireworks the Northwest corner of Sierra Madre and Ramona Boulevard, with stand permit at waiver of fee; that the request had been filed on June 17, 1958; Northwest corner this in addition to the one previously filed by them for a permit of Sierra Madre for a fireworks stand at the Southwest corner of Francisquito and and Ramona Blvd. Ramona Boulevard. Moved by Council Stephens, and seconded by Councilman Holmes, that the permit be granted to the Lyons Club granting them two locations to operate a fireworks stand, one at the Northwest corner of Sierra Madre and Ramona Boulevard, and the other at the Southwest corner of Francisquito and Ramona Boulevard. Granted. This motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Bishop, Holmes, Littlejohn, Stephens and Cole.
