HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM AUGUST 27, 1958 11:30 L.M.
The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park met in adjourned regular
meeting at the Municipal Auditorium Council Chambers at 11:30 R M,
ROLL CALL Present: Councilman Bishop, Stephens, Holmes,
Mayor Cole, Chief Administrative Officer
Asmus, Acting City Attorney Gorlick and
City Clerk Balkus
Absent: Councilman Littlejohn ROLL CALL
Councilman Stephens moved that the absence of Councilman Littlejohn Councilman
be noted and excused. Councilman Holmes seconded and it was agreed Littlejohn
unanimously and so ordered by Mayor Cole. excused.

ORDINANCE NO. 91 fixing the

BALDWIN PARK FIXING THE Adopted.
AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO
BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON THE
TAXABLE PROPERTY THEREIN FOR
OPERATIONS OF THE VARIOUS
DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING
JULY 1, 1958.
The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park does ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1. That after the receipt of cettified assessed
valuations and adoption of the budget, the amount of money necessary
to be raised by taxation for the purpose of fixing the tax rate upon
taxable property in the City of Baldwin Park, for operations of the
various departments of said City for general municipal purposes for
the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1958, is hereby determined and
fixed as the sum of $31,434.78.
SECTTION 2. This ordinance relates to the annual tax levy
of the City and is specially required by the laws of the State.
SECTION 3. The City Council declares that this is an
emergency ordinance for the immediate preservation of the public
peace, health and safety and shall be introduced, read in full and
passed at one and the same regular meeting. The facts constituting
the urgency are as follows:
The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park is
required by law too adopt this ordinance before September
1st. Unless the ordinance is adopted as an urgency
ordinance it cannot be passed before September 1st. This
would result in the loss of tax revenues needed by the City
to operate its fire, police and other departments thereby
affecting the peace, health and safety of the City and its
inhabitants.

SECTICtI 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published or posted
in the manner required by law, and this ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption.

NOES: Councilman None
ABSENT: Councilman Littlejohn

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL fixing the

THE TAX RATE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR for the
BEGINNING JULY 1, 1958 fiscal
year begin
The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park does resolve ning July
as follows: 1, 1958
Adopted.
SBLTION 1. That the tax rate of the City of Baldwin Park,
to be levied and collected on all taxable property within the City
of Baldwin Park, County of Los Angeles, State of California, for the
fiscal YYg~ar beginning July 1, 1958, is hereby fixed at 13 cents upon
each $106.00 assessed valuation of property, the entire sum thereof
being fixed as the rate for, and is to be levied and collected for,
general municipal purposes and shall be paid into the General Fund
of the City.
SECTION 2. This resolution relates to the annual tax
levy of the City and is specially required by the jaws of the State.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify the passage of
this resolution and shall cause the same to be published or posted
in the same manner and within the same tine as ordinances are required
to be published.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall immediately transmit a
certified copy of this resolution to the County Auditor.
PASSED AND ADOPTED This 27th day of August, 1958.

Councilman Holmes moved that Resolution No. 58-91 fixing the tax
rate for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1958 be adopted. Council-
am Bishop seconded and the motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Councilman Bishop, Stephens, Holmes and Mayor Cole
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Littlejohn

Councilman Bishop moved the meeting adjourn. Councilman Stephens Adjourned
seconded. Agreement was unanimous and the notion was so ordered
by Mayor Cole at 11!40 a.M.
