A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BALDWIN PARK ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE
CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY FOR
PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE SAFETY PROGRAMS
WHEREAS,the State of California Office of Traffic Safety("OTS")has made funds available
to the City of Baldwin Park, California ("the City") Public Works Department for personnel
costs,contractual services,give-away equipment,and printing to promote pedestrian and bicycle
safety; and
WHEREAS,the OTS has awarded forty thousand dollars($40,000)to the City's
Public Works
Department for personnel costs,contractual services,give-away equipment,and printing to pro-
mote pedestrian and bicycle safety; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2017-217,which authorizes the Director of Public Works to ap-
prove the submittal of grant application documents and amendments; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to accept the grant funds from OTS.
NOW THEREFORE,IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Baldwin Park will create best practice strategies to reduce the
number of persons killed and injured in crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists.'
SECTION 2.The City of Baldwin Park will use funded strategies that may include class-
room education, bicycle rodeos, community events, presentations, and workshops.
SECTION 3. The Public Works Director is hereby authorized to execute,on behalf of
the City,all documents including but not limited to the grant award agreement,a copy of which
is to be filed in the Office of the City Clerk, and any extension or amendments thereto.
SECTION 4. The City agrees to comply with all requirements for the grant program(in-
cluding any extension or amendments thereof)and that the funds will be appropriated as required
thereby.
SECTION 5. The funds shall not be used to supplant expenditures Controlled by the
City.
