Roll Call: Present: COUNCILMEN BISHOP, BLOXHAM, HOLMES, LITTLEJOHN AND MAYOR COLE ROLL CALL Absent: CITY TREASURER PUGH, CITY ATTORNEY SAUNDERS AND PLANNING DIRECTOR MANSFIELD Also Present: CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER ASMUS, CITY ENGINEER YOUNG AND CITY CLERK BALKUS 00- i At the request of Mayor Cole, City Engineer Young gave a report REPORT BY CITY on the two low bidders pertaining to Project CA-60-1, Improvement ENGR. RE LON of Baldwin Park Boulevard. BIDS ON PROJECT City Engineer Young stated that he had checked the low bidder with the references given and it was his opinion the City would get a good job from Ken Russell Paving, Claremont, California, Bidder No. 4. He further reported that this company Is re- sponsible, the bid is reasonable, and their bid correct as tabu- lated on the abstract of bids. Discussion ensued wherein City Engineer Young stated that the low bid was about 13% lower than our estimate, and also recom- mended that the bid bonds of the two next lowest bids be held until contract Is executed with Ken Russell Paving. Council- man Holmes clarified the requirements as called for under the California Administrative Code relevant to public works. COUNCILMAN HOLMES MOVED THAT COUNCIL CONCUR WITH THE RECOMMENDA- TIONS AND FINDINGS OF THE CITY ENGINEER AND THAT BALDWIN PARK BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENT, PROJECT CA-60-1 BE AWARDED TO KEN RUSSELL PAVING OF CLAREMONT, CALIFORNIA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,548.80, SUBJECT TO THE CLARIFICATION OF THE BOND INVOLVED; THAT THE NEXT TWO LONEST BIDS BE RETAINED UNTIL THE CONTRACT IS EXECUTED; THAT THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS BE AUTHORIZED TO SIGN THE CONTRACT; AND THAT ALL OTHER BIDS BE REJECTED. COUNCILMAN BISHOP SECONDED. The motion carried by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN HOLMES, BISHOP, BLOXHAM, LITTLEJOHN AND MAYOR COLE NOES: NONE ABSENT: NONE 00- Councilman Littlejohn queried Chief Administrative Officer Asmus regarding the repairing of the motor grader. Chief Administrative Officer Asmus stated that, after in- vestigating costs, it would be better to repair this one, as the differential was about $1,800.00 CA-60-I IMPROVE- MENT OF BALDWIN PARK BLVD. MOTION MADE AND CARRIED THAT COUNCIL CONCUR WITH RECOMMENDA- TIONS & FINDINGS OF CITY ENGR. & THAT BALDN! I N PARK BLVD.
