Three bids were received Agricultural Machinery Co., Los Angeles Asplundh $3,218.47* Harron Richard & McCone Co., Norwalk Hall 3,624.40 McCabe.-Powers Body Co., Santa Fe Spgs. Fitchburg 4,784.00** *Includes dust supressor Without dust supressor Mr. Asmus reported no diesel models were available and all bids were on the 12 volt system, and recommended that the bid of Agricultural Machinery Company in the amount of $3,218.47 be accepted. This company can make delivery with- in 10 days. Discussion followed as to cost per load for dumping with DISCUSSION the use of the brush chipper as compared to past cost, etc. It was decided that no decision would be made until after COUNCIL TO SEE the City Council saw a demonstration of the machine. Mr. DEMONSTRATION BE- Asmus to set up date for a demonstration and notify Council. FORE AWARD OF BID. 00- Councilman Littlejohn requested information on the status INQUIRY AS TO of the Merced Avenue Sewers. STATUS OF MERCED AVENUE SEWERS BY COUNCILMAN LITTLE- JOHN. Chief Administrative Officer Asmus stated he had received the plans from Mr. Bousman and that they are presently being checked by Harold Johnson; that the line had been raised to be 6 and 7 feet deep; the contract will be let for bid this week as the houses are to be ready for occu- pancy by December I, 1961. 00- Chief Administrative Officer Asmus stated Mr. LaMaster, attorney and representative locally of the Legal Aid Soci- ety, sponsored by the Bar Association by donations, had requested use of space for 21 days a week in City Hall. They could pay no rent, however they would pay their own telephone and utilities. Discussion followed. MOTION MADE BY COUNCILMAN COLE THAT THE LEGAL AID SOCI- ETY BE GIVEN TEMPORARY QUARTERS IN THE CIVIL DEFENSE DE- PARTMENT WITH UTILITIES PRO RATED, AND THAT A FULL REPORT BE SECURED WITH INFORMATION AND DATA ON THE TYPE OF SERV- ICE, AND HON MANY PEOPLE FROM BALDNIN PARK USE THE SERV- ICE.
