ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BALDWIN PARK CITY COUNCIL APRIL 19, 1966

The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park met in
adjourned regular session at the above place at 7:30 p.m.
Mayor Crites led the salute to the flag.

City Clerk Balkus announced that this was the time and CLERK'S CERTIFICATE
place fixed for receiving the Clerk's certificate as to AS TO RESULTS OF
the results of the General Municipal Election held Tuesday, GENERAL MUNICIPAL
April 12, 1966. She stated tht 3,181 ballots had been ELECTION
cast; that 12 were absentee ballots and then presented APRIL 12, 1966
the Certificate of Canvass which read as follows:

Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Baldwin Park City Council
RESOLUTION NO. 66-105 RECITING THE
FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
HELD IN SAID CITY OF BALDWIN PARK ON
THE 12TH DAY OF APRIL, 1966, DECLARING
THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER
MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW
COUNCILMAN MCCARON MOVED THAT RESOLUTION NO. 66-105 BE
APPROVED AND FURTHER READING BE WAIVED. COUNCILWOMAN
GREGORY SECONDED. The motion carried by the following
vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN MCCARON, GREGORY, ADAIR,
MOREHEAD AND MAYOR CRITES
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: NONE

City Clerk Balkus stated the Campaign Statements for
Ivory D. Crites and Charles E. Morehead had been filed
in her office.

City Clerk Balkus administered the Oath of Office to
Councilman Ivory D. Crites and Councilman Charles E.
Morehead.

City Clerk Balkus presented the Certificates of Election.
00-
City Clerk Balkus proceeded with the reorganization of the
City Council. She announced that at this time all of the
Council members were on an equal basis, to nominate and
elect, and that voting could be done by roll call or secret
ballot.
COUNCILMAN MOREHEAD NOMINATED COUNCILMAN MCCARON. COUNCIL-
MAN ADAIR SECONDED.
City Clerk Balkus stated if there were no objections the
nominations were closed.
COUNCILWOMAN GREGORY NOMINATED COUNCILMAN MOREHEAD.
There was no second to the nomination.
COUNCILMAN MOREHEAD MOVED THAT THE NOMINATIONS BE CLOSED.
COUNCILMAN ADAIR SECONDED. There were no objections,
the motion carried and was so ordered.
COUNCILMAN MOREHEAD MOVED THAT MR. MCCARON BE ELECTED BY
ACCLAMATION. COUNCILMAN ADAIR SECONDED.
Councilwoman Gregory asked that the Minutes reflect a
4-I vote for Councilman McCaron for Mayor. She stated
that her vote was given without anger or rancor but
was given to indicate her objections to the adverse
thinking and the discrimination by the majority of this
Council in electing a woman mayor.

There were no further objections, the motion carried and MOTION CARRIED
was so ordered.
Mr. Joseph McCaron was elected Mayor. JOSEPH MCCARON
ELECTED MAYOR

Mayor McCaron asked that City Clerk Balkus proceed with
the election of Mayor pro tem.
COUNCILMAN MCCARON NOMINATED COUNCILMAN MOREHEAD FOR MAYOR COUNCILMAN MCREHEAD
PRO TEM. COUNCILWOMAN GREGORY SECONDED. As there were NOMINATED FOR MAYOR
no objections, the nominations were closed. PRO TEM
COUNCILMAN MCCARON MOVED THAT THE NOMINATIONS BE CLOSED. NOMINATIONS CLOSED
COUNCILMAN CRITES SECONDED. There were no objections,
the motion carried and was so ordered.
Councilman Morehead was elected Mayor pro tem.

Councilman Crites presented Mayor McCaron with his badge
of office.

Mayor McCaron thanked the Council for electing him Mayor
for the coming year stating it was the planned program
the Council had for making a change in the Chair once a
year; that he wanted to take this opportunity to compliment
the City staff, including all employees, for the work
they had done the past year in assuming their respon-
sibilities; that he trusted if the coming year was the
same as the past year the City would have a very successful
year and a busy one.

At this time the matter of reorganization of the City
Council was concluded.

Mayor McCaron.
