NO. 70-77 ADOPTED AS AMENDED PUBLIC HEARINGS City Engineer French stated that the first item under Public Hearings concerned Virginia Avenue Assessment District 70-1. which had been continued from February 18, 1970, He stated thati at the instruction of the Council» he had had several meetings with the property owners and all but one of the protesting property owners had agreed to withdraw their protests if Mr, Syhre dedicated, at no cost to the dis- trict, his property easterly of the tracks. He stated that he had been in contact with Mr a Syhre by phone and he had agreed to dedicate the property; that Mr. Syhre had the documents which he will sign and return to the City shortly, that at that time the City can contact the protesters to with- draw their protestso He recommended that this matter be held over to the April 1, 1970 Council meeting so that a11 of the paper work can be put in order» COUNCILMAN KING MOVED THAT THE VIRGINIA AVENUE ASSESSMENT DISTRICT BE CONTINUED TO APRIL 1, 1970. There were no objections, the motion carried and was so orderede 00- Councilman Gregory announced that she had attended a luncheon meeting, as a board member, of United Way; that during the 1969-70 United Crusade Campaign $15,000. was raised and Baldwin Park made 104% of goat; that she had accepted two awards for absentee members of the official family, for Planning Director Chivetta and City Manager Nordby; that this was in addition to the certificate and the gold plaque which was won last year. She stated that she was very proud of the endeavors and efforts expended by the people at City Hall. 00- City Manager Nordby stated that he had been notified by Mr^ and Mrs. Scott, that they would no longer be operating the Snack Bar at Morgan Park, that the City had advertised for operators: that Richard Lugo, 16360 McGill Street, Covina, who operates snack bars in Covina and Alhambra had expressed interest in taking over the operation,, He recommended that an agreement between the City and Mr, Lugo be approved.
