The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park met in regular session in the Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m. The Invocation was given by Councilman Izell. The Flag Salute was led by Herschel Keyser. Waive Further Reading and Adopt RESOLUTION NO. 87-109 AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 87-56 AMENDING A CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR THE CITY'S CLASSIFIED AND UNCLASSIFIED POSITIONS It was moved and seconded to approve the Consent Calendar as presented. M/S/C: GIBSON/IZELL. There were no objections. 00- REPORTS OF OFFICERS, COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEES City Clerk Gair explained that prior to each General Municipal Election the Council is required to approve certain resolutions. The resolutions will call and give notice of the election and request services of the county. The first resolution also sets the time of the polling hours. This year Council has been requested to extend the closing of the polls to 8:00 p.m. She further explained a telephone survey regarding the hours for poll closing in other cities, state law allowing absence from work to vote, absentee voting and the Counting Center that is to be shared with West Covina. It was recommended that the Council adopt the two resolutions and determine the the hours of the closing of the polls. Mayor King stated that he would allow public input on the matter of the polling hours and invited those wishing to speak to come forward. Herschel Keyser, 13645 Rexwood, presented signatures of residents wishing to have the hours extended and spoke in favor of the extended hours for people who work a distance from the City. Alma Aghbashian, 12853 E. Ledford, spoke in favor of the polling hours bing extended and requested that the building at the Wilderness park be used as a permanent polling place for residents South of the freeway. Lisa Keyser, 13465 Rexwood, spoke in favor of the extension of the polling hours for more public participation. It was moved and seconded to set the hours of the polls at 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and approve Resolution No. 87-110, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 12, 1988, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITIES". M/S/C: WHITE/MCNEILL. There were no objections. RESOLUTION NO. 87-110 APPROVED BIB] 37652-U01 1987-U02 12-U02 17-U02 CC-U02 MIN-U02 LI1-U03 FO3794-U03 FO9441-U03 DO9442-U03 C4-U03 MINUTES1-U03 1/30/2003-U04 ROBIN-U04 REGULAR-U05 SESSION-U05 CITY-U06 COUNCIL-U06 1987 12 17 CC MIN;¢f4ÃAçREGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DECEMBER 17, 1987 PAGE THREE It was moved and seconded to approve Resolution No. 87-111, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO RENDEER SPECIFIED SERVICES TO SAID CITY RELATING TO THE CONDUCT OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, APRIL, 12, 1988". M/S/C: WHITE/MCNEILL. There were no objections. 00- Mayor King declared Oral Communications open and invited those wishing to speak on any subject to come forward. Roy Test, 15115 Kenoak, requested an update on All Star Automotive. Pam Schnable, 14217 Los Angeles, thanked those who attended the Senior Citizens' Christinas Jamboree and also commented on the commented on Senior Citizen facility. Mary Ann Huetinck, Amar Road, thanked the Council and the City Staff for the many improvements in the City. Mayor King declared Oral Communications closed. 00- It was moved and seconded to adjourn the regular meeting of the City Council at 7:38 p.m. M/S/C: IZELL/GIBSON.
