Council had directed staff to prepare options FY 92-93 for balancing the budget with a new projected surplus of $117,500. Several positions were identified for elimination and the impact has not been addressed. The State is faced with a $10 to $11 billion shortfall and the cities have been targeted to possibly lose the motor vehicle in lieu fees and property taxes. A comparison of last year's figures and the possible impact by the State budget was shown. Staff did not recommend adoption of the budget at this meeting. Rather, staff recommended continued monitoring and a more active role in the State budget process.
