OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, DISTRICT OFFICE,
3699 HOLLY AVENUE, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1992,
AT 7:00 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park
met in adjourned regular session with the
Baldwin Park School Board in the District Board
Room.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS GALLEGOS, IZELL, ROLL CALL
MARTINEZ, MCNEILL AND MAYOR
VARGAS
BOARD MEMBERS SNYDER, GAIR,
NUNEZ AND VIRAMONTES
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Penman,
Dir. of Public Works Mousavi,
Police Chief Lanza, and
City Clerk Gair
Superintendent Kemper
Deputy Superintendent
Sexton, and
Assistant Superintendent
Watkins
Vice President Snyder called the joint meeting to order IN SESSION
and requested the Secretary of the Board to call roll.
Mayor pro tem Gallegos thanked the School Board and the
administrators for the meeting and expressed his hope
that the meeting would be productive and more meetings
would follow.

Councilwoman McNeill was present at 7:10 p.m. and Mayor COUNCIL-
Vargas was present at 7:15 p.m. MEMBERS
PRESENT

Council, School Board and Staff members discussed the
following issues
1. Possible joint effort in refurbishing Old Auditorium
and the Adult Education Performing Arts already
being prepared by the School District.
2. Expanded use of the Community Center by the School
District.
3. Invigorate the interest of young people in the
community to participate in youth sports.
4. County Library programs.
5. Community Task Force on Gangs and At-Risk-Youth.
6. Changing the image of the City.
7. Recognition for deserving and outstanding youth,
such as: community involvement, scholastic
achievement, etc.
8. Joint effort or cooperative effort, in the future,
for possible pool buying, shared maintenance
and mechanical resources.
