The City Council of the City of Baldwin
Park met in a study session ar session in
the Room 307 at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS GALLEGOS, MARTINEZ ROLL CALL
MCNEILL AND MAYOR VARGAS
ALSO PRESENT: Dir. of Administrative Yeats,
Police Chief Lanza,
Dir. of Public Works Mousavi,
Dir. of Community Dev. Carbajal,
Dir. of Human Services Nunez, and
City Clerk Gair
The absence of Councilman Izell was excused. ABSENCES
EXCUSED

Mayor Vargas declared the study session in session at IN SESSION
6:00 p.m.
Topics of discussion were: TOPICS
The banking service interview dates were presented by
the Director of Administrative Services.
The City Clerk discussed the opening of candidates
filing on December 20th for the April Election, the
multi-language meetings being held by the City Clerk, and
the Adopt-A-School Mock" election to be held at Santa
Fe School.
Community Development Director discussed the pre-sale
home inspection program. Director of Human Services
presented the possibility of a name dedication for the
Community Center. The dangerous situation at Sierra
Vista Baseball Filed with the city-owned lights, and
putting the maintenance of the field in Public Works for
the funding, and seeking grants for the repairs.
Updates were given on the Garvey strip enforcement,
NPDES, Morgan Park construction, Barnes Park rehab, and
the private street study to be done.
Council discussed the Mission Statement for the City as
possibly, To maintain a clean, safe and pleasing
environment for the residents of Baldwin Park," and
suggested a contest. They requested a better podium
than the current one, a report on the Brown Act from
the City Attorney, requested that the Community
Development Director move into the City Manager's
Office, suggested that kids caught in the act of
grafitti be prosecuted, and suggested that every
Thursday be casual day at City Hall.
The death of Housing Commissioner Patricia De Avila was
announced.
Meeting was dismissed at 7:00 p.m.
