The City Council of the City of Baldwin
Park met in a study session in Room 307
at 6:00 p.m..
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS GALLEGOS, LOWES,
MUSE AND MAYOR PRO TEM MARTINEZ
ALSO PRESENT: City Attorney Bower,
Dir. of Admin. Serv. Yeats,
Police Chief Lanza,
Dir. of Public Works Mousavi,
Dir. of Community Dev. Carbajal,
Dir. of Human Services Nunez and
City Clerk Gair
Mayor pro tern Martinez declared the study session in session at
6:00 p.m.

City Attorney Bower explained that there was a need to place a
Subsequent Need Item on the study session relating to the possible
termination of a contract for the Morgan Park expansion with Javaid
Contractors that will be added to the Council agenda also.
Council agreed by unanimous consent to place this item on the
agenda

Mayor pro tern Martinez declared Oral Communications open and
invited those wishing to speak on any subject to come forward at
this time. There were none.
Mayor pro tem Martinez declared Oral Communications closed.

Topics were:
City Clerk Gair distributed listings of Fireworks Stand Applicants
and the process that was used for denial of some of the previous
organizations that had stands in the past.
Mayor Vargas arrived at 6:20 p.m.
Director of Community Development Carbajal stated that eleven 11)
RFP's had been received from the Image Firms. A review process
has been set up and information on this is forth coming.
Chief of Police Lanza updated the Council on the Hotel/Motel
Ordinance that would be coming before the Council on June 1st. He
explained the regulatory effect of this ordinance and the intent
for its adoption.
Director of Public Works Mousavi explained the meetings with the
Villa Del Paseo association regarding the Landscaping Assessment
District and the proposed increase in their fees. He outlined the
new costs to the Council.

Mr. Mousavi also explained the Subsequent Need Item and that the
possible termination of this contract will be added to the City
Council agenda tonight because of specific problems that have
arisen with the completion of the Morgan Park Expansion and Javaid
Contractors.
Mayor Vargas declared the study session adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
