The City Council of the City of Baldwin
Park met in a study session in Room 307
at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS LOWES, MUSE,
MARTINEZ and MAYOR VARGAS
ALSO PRESENT: City Attorney Bower
Dir, of Admin. Services Yeats,
Police Chief Lanza,
Dir. of Public Works Mousavi,
Dir. of Community Dev. Carbajal,
Dir. of Human Services Nunez and
City Clerk Gair
The absence Councilman Gallegos was excused.

The study session was in session at 6:00 p.m.

Mayor Vargas declared Oral Communications open and invited those
wishing to speak to come forward. There were none.
Mayor Vargas declared Oral Communication, closed.

Topics of discussion were:
Director of Community Development Carbajal distributed pamphlets to
the City Council and Staff and explained the proposed Establishment
of Economic Development Section Within the Community Development
Department. He outlined the program and the use of AB 1693 funds
for the purpose of attracting and keeping businesses. He shared
the reward in this program in seeing Senor Felix's new business
open and the open house by that company in City Hall. In response
to Council inquiry he stated that these AB 1693 funds are the
remainder of the funds after the Chamber of Commerce's decrease in
funding.
Council requested that materials regarding study session topics be

discussed at the Team Building session that is coming up.
The best date for a Team Building Session appeared to be Saturday,
September 17, 1994 at 8:00 a.m.
The Council stated that the Representative for the City Landmarks
Competition Jury will be Ten Muse.
