Economic Development 10* Planning & Building Capacity Councilmembers stated the objectives, goals and concerns they have for the Consolidated Plan as: dollars still being committed to the sidewalk and beautification program, where ADA Funding will come from, meeting the needs of the senior citizens, home ownership, rehabilitation and facades in downtown area, improvement of total infrastructure, increasing the value of non-profit groups to the community through their accountability, meeting child care needs possibly through a voucher system, meeting the needs of the residents and not the necessarily the needs of organizations, developing better programs for all citizens, and keeping a critical eye on organizations funded by the City to see that the citizens are served. Housing Commissioners stated some of their observations as they serve on the commission as: the economics of today do not allowing the City to provide as they might desire, wanting to see CDBG funds freed up because of the pressure of funding, the need for home ownership instead of renting, liking the idea of a voucher program for child-care needs, wanting to see a 20% tax set-a-side fund, and re-evaluating what is coming before the Housing Commission and looking into other areas to assist. Housing Commission Chairman Martinez commented that this was this commission's first full year together and they are hoping to identify some alternatives to funding. Council directed staff to work with the Housing Commission to focus priorities and to apply those priorities to creative programs. Also, a team building session with the Housing Commission, City Council and staff was requested for April. 00- Mayor Vargas adjourned the joint study session at 6:55 p.m. R, CITY LINDA L CLERK BIB] 37175-U01 MIN-U02 SS-U02 FEB-U02 15-U02 1995-U02 LG1-U03 LI1-U03 FO3433-U03 FO3520-U03 FO3525-U03 DO4200-U03 C4-U03 MINUTES1-U03 10/11/2001-U04 ADMIN-U04 MIN-U05 SS-U05 FEB-U05 15-U05 1995-U05 BIB] 37260-U01 1995-U02 02-U02 15-U02 CC-U02 MIN-U02 SS-U02 LG1-U03 LI1-U03 FO3433-U03 FO3520-U03 DO4200-U03 C4-U03 MINUTES1-U03 10/11/2001-U04 ADMIN-U04 CITY-U05 COUNCIL-U05 MINUTES-U05
