STUDY SESSION SUBJECTS Director of Public Works Mousavi explained the history of the installation of the City bus shelters, how the beginning costs were low, and how the costs increased. An agreement with Metro Display proved successful, but the company went bankrupt. The overseeing of the bus shelters was changed over to Public Works a few years ago. Director Mousavi explained the disrepair that the buses are in and the possible changes that are needed. The alternatives are: 1) to remove shelters and have Metro install new shelters and extend the contract; 2) remove shelters and install our own and terminate Metro Display contract; 3) to repair the shelters; and 4) terminate contract with Metro Display and go to bid. Some of the projected costs to replace and the upkeep were discussed with council. Graffiti removal, trash pickups and other upkeeping procedures were discussed. Council asked if Metro Display was still doing the cleaning and if staff was satisfied with the cleaning. Consideration of terminating the contract with Metro was suggested. Council requested staff to develop an agreement that would give us what the City wants as the ideal contract and rebid the contract. Also suggested was that the transportation study be coordinated with developing bus shelter cleanup and replacement. Council gave examples of the kind of things they would like to see in the contract. Council requested that Foothill Transit be brought back into this. City Attorney Bower stated that the item needs to be agendized to terminate the contract with Metro Display. 00 The regular Study Session was adjourned at 7:00 p.m. There were no objections LINDA L.
