AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK,
AMENDING SECTION 2602 OF THE BALDWIN
PARK MUNICIPAL CODE.
The City Council of the City of Baldwin Park
does ordain as follows:
Section l. Section 2602 of the Baldwin Park
Municipal Code is amended.to read as follows:
2602. City Office Hours. The general City
offices shall be closed on Saturdays and on the fol-
lowing legal holidays: Sundays, January 1, February
22, May 30, July 4, the first Monday in September,
September 9, November 11, December 25, Good Friday
from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m., and every day ap-
pointed by the President or Governor for a public
fast, Thanksgiving, or holiday.
Section 2. This ordinance is declared to be
an emergency ordinance for the public peace, health and
safety. The facts constituting the emergency are as
follows: The City Council, in Resolution No. 59-70,
adopted. July 20, 1959, provided for City offices to be
closed on certain specified holidays, thereby requiring
that they be opened on all other holidays enumerated in
Section 6700 of the Government Code. Election day is one
of the legal holidays on which it was intended that City
offices be open. At the time Resolution No. 59-70 was
adopted, Section 2602 of the Baldwin Park Municipal Code
was inadvertently not amended to delete election day there-
from as a holiday. Due to the fact that Tuesday, June 7,
is an election day, it is urgent that Section 2602 be
amended, to take effect immediately.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and cause the same to be pub-
lished as required by law. This ordinance shall take
effect immediately upon its adoption.
