AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK AMENDING THE
MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING THERETO SECTION
3377.1 RELATING TO TEMPORARY PERMITS
FOR OVERSIZE VEHICLES ON RESTRICTED
STREETS; DECLARING THE URGENCY HEREOF TO
TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY.
The City Council of* the City of Baldwin Park does
ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. The Bal_dwin Park Municipal Code is hereby
amended by adding thereto Section 3377.1 to read as follows:
3377.1. Temporary Permit: Where the enforcement
of the truck routing provisions of this Code would
cause undue and unnecessary hardship on any person
so aggrieved, the City Engineer may grant a tem-
porary permit to such persons authorizing specific
vehicles described in such permit to temporarily
travel over or along specific alternate restricted
routes designated in the permit. No temporary permit
shall be granted for a period to exceed six months,
but it may be renewed upon written application after
expiration of its term.
In the event the City Engineer refuses to grant or
renew a temporary permit, the person applying may appeal
such refusal to the City Council. The procedure on
appeal shall be as prescribed in Division VI, Part 2
of this Code.
Section 2. This ordinance is passed as an emergency
measure, and the Council does, by the vote by which this Ordi-
nance is passed, hereby declare that an emergency exists, which
makes it imperative that this ordinance should become effective
forthwith in order that the public health, welfare and safety
might most effectively be provided for.
