AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY CITY OF BALDMIN PARK AMENDI1 2256 OF THE BALDWIN PARK MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT URGENCY ORDINANCE) THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Section 2256 of the Baldwin Park Municipal Code is hereby attended to read as follows: 2256 POLITICAL ACTIVITIES. No person, other than elective officers, while in the employ of the City, in any capacity, shall engage in any political activity during such tine as such person is on duty. Any person described in subparagraph b) of Section 2201 hereof, who files, or permits the filing of, a nomnating paper, placing his nane in nomnation for any elective office of the City, shall be deeded to have resigned, effective i—ediately. fron his position of exployent with the City." Section 2. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an Urgency Ordinance and shall take effect i—ediately upon its adoption. A state-enf of facts constituting its urgency is as follows: That by inadvertency at the tine of adoption of the new Code, unclassified employees were Included within the scope of the latter portion of Section 2256, whereas, it was intended to apply to the latter portion of this section only to Civil Service employees. The practical effect of the section, as written, is to provide present elective officials fnr seeking re-election. That the public, peace, health and safety requires the i—ediate adoption of this Ordinance. Section 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the sa«e to be published in the nanner prescribed by law.
