HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956 058 CC RESO1956 058 CC RESO ZX ZPJ/8RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, SUBMITTING TO HE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK A PROPOSITION TO PAY THE ELECTED AND ACTING COUNCILMEM AND MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK A MONTHLY SALARY; AND TO ESTABLISH A DATE WHEN SUCH MONTHLY SALARIES SHALL BE STARTED. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park desires to submit the question of the payment of a monthly councilmnic salary and the starting date thereof to the voters of the City of Baldwin Park at a special election to be held on the 6th d?y of November, 1956; NOW, THEREFORE, be it DETERMMHl, RESOLVED, and ORDERED as follows: Section A, The following measure shall be placed upon the ballot for approval or disapproval by the voters of the City of Baldwin Park at a Special Election hereby called to be held on November 6th. 19^6. Section B. The measure shall be: ORDINANCE NO. An Ordinance of the City of Baldwin Park amending Section 2300, of the Baldwin Park Municipal Code by deleting from said Section 2300, the words but no compensation or salary as such shall be paid to any councilman'1, and adding two new sections to be designated Sections 2300.1 providing for a monthly salary to be paid councilmen and the mayor; and Section 2300.2, establishing the starting date such salaries, are to be paid* The People of the City of Baldwin Park do ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Section 2300 of the Baldwin Park Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows; 2300. Gouncilmen expenses* Upon the submission of an itemized account any Councilman may be reimbursed fpr his actual and necessary expenses incurred in the perfoi'mance of his official duty, Section 2, A new section is hereby added to the Baldwin Park Municipal Code to be designated Section 2300.1, and shall read as follows: 2300.1 Mayor and Councilman compensation, salaries. The salaries and compensation of the Mayor and Councilmen are fixed herein: a) The Mayor shall receive a salary of seventy-five $75«00) dollars per month. b) Each Councilman, other than the Mayor, shall receive a salary of fifty 0.00) dollars per month. Section 3» A new section is hereby added to the Baldwin Park Municipal Code to be designated Section 2300.2, and shall read as follows; BIB] 38238-U01 1956-U02 058-U02 CC-U02 RESO-U02 LI3-U03 FO52524-U03 FO52657-U03 DO52715-U03 C6-U03 RESO-U03 9/8/2004-U04 ROBIN-U04 1956 058 CC RESO ZX ZPJ/82300*2• Starting date for Mayor and Councilmen salaries The salaries to be paid to the Mayor and the Councitmen as set forth in Section 2300,1 of this Code shall start on the 1st day of December 19$6, and shall be payable on the first day of ea ch month thereafter, beginning on January 1st, 19$7» Section U« This Ordinance shall be considered as adopted upon the date that a majority vote in favor thereof is declared by the canvassing board, and shall become effective ten 10) days thereafter* Section C, The ballots used when voting upon the proposed Ordinance shall have printed thereon the words Shall the Ordinance amending the Baldwin Park Municipal Code thus permitting a salary to be paid to the Msyor of $7$•00 per month and to each Councilman of $$0.00 per month and establishing the date of December 1st, 1956, as the starting date of such salaries, be adopted?" Opposite the statement of the Ordinance to be voted on, and to its right, the words YES" and NO" shall be printed on separate lines, with voting squares. Section Da The City Clerk shall place this matter upon the ballot of the Special Election and he shall mail a copy thereof, en- closed in an envelops with a sample ballot, to each voter, at least ten 10) days prior to the election* Section E, Not earlier than the seventy-fifth 7$th) nor later than the fifty-fourty Uth) day before said Special Municipal election, the City Clerk shall publish a notice of the election at least once in one or more newspapers published and circulated in the City. Section F> The notice shall be headed NOTICE OF ELECTION" and shall contain a statement of the time of the election. Section G. The City Clerk shall publish a synopsis of the proposition at least twice before the day of election in one or more daily or weekly newspapers published and circulated in the city. The synopsis shall be substantially in the following form: Measures to be Voted on* Notice is hereby given that the following measure is to be voted on at the Special Municipal election to be held in the City of Baldwin Park on the 6th day of November, 19$6. The measure or proposition) if adopted, would provide a salary of Seventy-five $7$.00) dollars per month be paid to the Mayor and a salary of Fifty $$0.00) per month be paid to each Council- man, Such salaries would start on the 1st day of December, 19^6, and would be payable monthly thereafter."
